Wu Chow

one word. yum.

Authentic farm to table comfort Chinese food in the heart of downtown Austin.

Although the check might be a bit pricey, I promise it’s worth it. I have been to Wu Chow a couple of times now and the soup dumplings keep bringing me back. Not only are the dumplings to die for, their main courses are classic, comfort Chinese food with an elegant flair.

Most recently, I went for date night on Valentine’s Day, and their set menu made me a little worried that I wasn’t going to get my usual dishes (green beans, scallion beef, and house fried rice), but each dish was TO DIE FOR!

We had 3 appetizers, 2 entrees, and a sorbet dessert for $50 per person, and paid an extra $10 for an order of soup dumplings (we had to!). I was already full after the appetizers.

Our apps were an order of green beans, Sichuan wok squid (way better than I expected, and a bit of a kick), and an order of meatballs (which were the exact same as the meat inside of the soup dumplings, just 3x the size).

For entrees, we split a wagyu beef dish and the gong bao chicken, both incredible!

I can promise you I will be back time and time again to this restaurant. For a nice date night but delicious Asian comfort food, this is the place to go.
